Imago Dei

March 29, 2010

I've always been intrigued, fearfully so, by this piece of information from the Bible. That God created man in His image is such a huge, mindblowing information. How does one interpret it and apply it to one's ordinary, every day life? I mean, hellow, God is sooooo UP THERE!!! in creative power, strength, love, loving-kindness, forgivingness, generousity and all those good, great character traits and abilities while I'm so painfully aware of my own weaknesses, faults, sins, mistakes, failures, powerlessness, negativities, bad temper and thoughts and all such things ... Then a realization , which presented itself in a wee, almost unnoticeable way, almost like a whisper and the gentlest of breezes, almost like a tingling baby's breath on one's check , came and intimated in the remembered verse about the 'Vine and the branches' , on 'abiding in God and God abiding in one's internal life/spirit', about 'the Kingdom of God being inside you..' .... And behold, it's quite very reasonable, logical and profoundly simple ... that one can only be an image of God if God dwells in one's spirit and innards , one's soul, mind, heart and body which is another way of saying that one loves God with all of one's soul, body, heart and mind and when one connects with God all the time, every moment ...Whew !
